Ain Shams University Honors “Egyptian Swiss Group” for Its Partnership in Supporting Applied Education and Student Training

The Faculty of Agriculture at Ain Shams University has honored the Egyptian Swiss Group for Pasta, Milling, and Concentrates in recognition of its outstanding role in supporting the faculty, providing practical training opportunities for students within its advanced research laboratories, and its active participation as a member of the Advisory Council of the Food Science and Technology Program.
The honor came during a symposium titled “Future Visions and Challenges of Food Manufacturing”, held at the faculty with the participation of professors, students, and key figures from the food industry sector.
ElSebaie: Bridging Academic Learning with Real-World Industry
Engineer Ahmed ElSebaie, General Manager of the Egyptian Swiss Group, delivered a speech highlighting the company’s industrial experience and reaffirming the importance of linking academic education with the real labor market. He emphasized the need to align academic curricula with industrial requirements to ensure graduates are fully equipped to meet the challenges of today’s job market.
ElSebaie explained that the company opens its laboratories to students from the Faculty of Agriculture under the supervision of a professional quality team, aiming to prepare new generations of graduates with hands-on experience before completing their studies. He reaffirmed the Group’s commitment to supporting applied education, developing youth skills, and fostering stronger engagement between students and real industrial environments.
He added that since its establishment in 1995, the Egyptian Swiss Group has grown into an integrated industrial entity operating in flour, pasta, concentrates, and silos, with exports reaching more than 50 countries worldwide. The Group continues to pursue international expansion, leveraging the growing global demand for food products.
The Faculty: Strengthening Partnerships Between Academia and Industry
The Faculty of Agriculture emphasized that this recognition comes as part of its ongoing strategy to strengthen partnerships between academia and the industrial sector. It highlighted previous field visits by quality control students to the company’s production facilities, where they gained first-hand exposure to operational and quality management systems.

Professor Mohamed Mostafa Abdel Razek, Head of the Department of Food Science at Ain Shams University, stated that the honor reflects the faculty’s deep belief in the importance of genuine collaboration between universities and industry. He noted that linking theoretical education with practical training is the cornerstone of preparing graduates who can compete both locally and internationally.
Abdel Razek added that major food companies, notably the Egyptian Swiss Group, serve as exemplary models in supporting applied education by providing students with real production environments where they can apply what they learn in classrooms.
He further explained that such collaboration aligns with the Egyptian government’s vision to modernize education and align it with market needs, contributing to the development of a new generation of skilled professionals equipped with both technical expertise and practical knowledge.

Abdel Razek concluded by affirming that the Faculty of Agriculture seeks to expand its collaboration network with leading companies in the food industry to achieve full integration between scientific research and industrial application — a partnership that benefits students, the economy, and the national food sector as a whole.
