The landmark gathering brought together senior healthcare leaders, clinicians, and experts from across the Middle East, Turkey and Africa (META) to address some of the region’s most pressing healthcare challenges and to advance best practices in vascular access, a critical component of safe, effective patient care.
Vascular access is a cornerstone of modern medical care. Nearly 90% of hospitalized patients require an IV catheter to deliver medications and fluids, yet up to half of these devices fail before completing therapy. The inaugural summit forms part of BD’s commitment to advancing the standard of care for IV therapy for patients and partnering with healthcare facilities to identify and address gaps in the vascular access process through comprehensive clinical assessments, evidence-based recommendations and robust training programs.
As healthcare systems across the META region continue to navigate workforce shortages, rising burnout, variability in clinical practice, and increasing operational pressures, BD convened this forum to foster dialogue, share evidence-based insights, and highlight practical solutions that can drive sustainable improvements in care delivery.

These discussions underscored the essential role of vascular access in improving patient outcomes and protecting healthcare workers from avoidable risks.
